Former Members
October 3, 2011

In April 2011, your board of directors authorized the payment of almost $910,000 in captial credits to members of the Cooperative who purchased electricity in 1986-1987.  Current members received credits on their accounts and former members were issued checks.  We were unable to locate several of the former members and are asking for your help in locating them.  Please take a look at the list of names and let us know if you have current qddresses or contact information for anyone on the list.

Cooperative members urged to conserve power
July 19, 2011

ANADARKO - An unexpected equipment failure has caused an emergency situation at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative’s (WFEC) Hugo Power Plant. WFEC is currently preparing to utilize its additional units, and power is also available to be purchased in the open market, should the need arise.

Northwestern Electric is encouraging members to help with this temporary situation by conserving energy on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly during afternoon and evening hours. Repairs should be completed within 48 hours at the Hugo Power Plant, with the unit back on-line by Friday evening.

Please be assured that WFEC has available capacity to meet our members’ load requirements. These actions are only being implemented in an attempt to conserve energy at time when WFEC has a unit temporarily out-of-service.

WFEC provides electricty to Northwestern Electric and 22 other electric cooperatives across two-thirds of Oklahoma, and a portion of New Mexico.

By taking the following steps during peak afternoon and evening hours, members can conserve energy and help avoid any potential problems for electric cooperative customers:

  • Turning air conditioner thermostat up a few notches.
  • Turning off unused lights.
  • Avoid use of washer and dryer.
  • Avoid use of any equipment that uses a lot of electricity.

Conservation efforts during this time are appreciated.
